If you are a practicing Christian then the significance of Easter is readily apparent; it is the foundation of our belief of Jesus Christ’s victory over sin and death. This is the “Good News”. No longer are we bound, as believers, in a world where the “wages of sin is death” because Jesus paid that price and conquered death once and for all.

But what about the message to the rest of the world? While it is an evangelistic opportunity, Easter is also the time to focus on our faith and to set an example of Christian living to others. What I found out when I became a Christian is that often the opportunity to “lead someone to Christ” does not happen in my time frame. That my actions; modeling Christian values and behavior plants seeds in someone’s life. What I can do is show, through my actions and behavior, that there is a better way to live – truly live. To influence anyone to believe or take any action that is advocated by another person what you do (actions/behaviors) will always have a greater impact than word, no matter how persuasive the words.
I have a quote on my Facebook page “Peach the gospel everyday and sometimes use words.”
That is the message for Easter I am trying to make here. We must live by example if we are ever going to persuade people of a better way. To live in a world that values life, where hard work is the norm, where liberty and freedom are foundational, and where the individual is accountable for their actions; that is the Christian life. That is what Jesus’ ministry was and is; that we all have the freedom to choose a better way to live and interact with our neighbors. There is freedom in the gospel – God has never taken away the freedom to choose. Choosing the path of the gospels leads to an abundant life; full of hope, strength and satisfaction. That is what Easter represents for me.
